A very happy New Year to all Middlesex Section members from the committee. We have a lot to report on events in the latter part of last year and we have some great events for 2024. After Brooklands we have our January AGM and lunch at The Grovefield House Hotel. We have been using this excellent venue for many years and the committee would welcome your thoughts on a possible change for 2025.

In this issue of our magazine,Tony tells about bringing some sunshine to a February day in Potters Bar. A little later I had great fun participating in a photo shoot for a forthcoming article on Derby Bentley cars. Will tells about a trip to Spain. Nigel reports on his weekend at the National, he was the much deserved recipient of the Le Touquet award for the member who had contributed the most to our club. We also have a couple of useful technical articles.

In this issue of our magazine, Michael Marshall-Clarke and David Siegal both whet our appetites for some continental driving. We have some photos of Nigel’s Open Day in November. Will Bate tells about one of the things that can go wrong with a 20hp after just 96 years and 450,000 miles, would that modern cars had such a life expectancy. How frequently do you check your tyres? A recent talk from TyeSafe proved both interesting and sobering.

I do hope that you have been taking every opportunity to drive your club cars this year. It can be difficult for your committee to know what sort of event appeals to our membership, but we hope that the events we arrange appeal to you, if not please tell us what you would like for next year. Our first event might have qualified as a Rolls-Royce Eating Club gathering, but we had a fine array of pre and post war cars at the visit to Formans, the famous East End salmon smokers, in early March. The salmon really was excellent.

Welcome to our third RREC Middlesex Section magazine in a proper printed form. As before I have drawn upon a variety of contributions from Section members to provide you with a good winter read. As you will understand, printing and posting a magazine does cost more than sending out an email, but I believe that most of us appreciate a tangible document, let me know what you think.

Welcome to our second RREC Middlesex Section magazine in a proper printed form. As in January I have drawn upon a variety of contributions from Section members to provide you with a good read, perhaps in a traffic jam somewhere on the way to a club event. As you know I have handed over to Will Bate as Secretary and I shall concentrate on producing the magazine and organising a few events.

Welcome to our first new RREC Middlesex section magazine in a proper printed form. Whilst we have become accustomed to the digital age, most people still like to have a document they can pick up and read. I have tried to draw upon a variety of contributions from Section members in order to provide a good read in these dark days. If you continue to support us with contributions, the committee is keen that we publish further similar magazines in the future.
